The Christmas 5km Event Details 2025
Thank you for entering the Muddy Roads Christmas 5km Trail Event! We can’t wait to welcome you for a festive morning of running, bells, and big smiles. Below is some important information, so please take a moment to read everything carefully to help us ensure a smooth and enjoyable event for all.
IMPORTANT - Due to the unique nature of the event and the fact you will be running inside the prison, no timing devices or mobile phones are permitted to be worn or carried during the event. This rule is strict security requirement of the venue. Anyone found to be in possession of a prohibited device will immediately be disqualified from the run. We will do the timing for you so you can add it to your strava! We appreciate your full support in respecting these conditions to ensure the smooth and safe running of the event.
EVENT DETAILS
Date: Sunday 14th December
Start time: 10:00am
Venue: HMP Kirklevington Grange, Yarm TS15 9PA
Registration opens: 09:00
Registration closes: 09:50 (please arrive in good time)
Registration will be held inside the on-site café where you will collect your race number.
PARKING
Parking is free but limited, so please car-share where possible. There is also additional parking near the café (use the bays). IMPORTANT you MUST NOT park on the road alongside the prison, this is part of the run route and therefore you cannot obstruct it by parking your car there. The run will not start until all cars are removed off the road.

ROUTE :The Christmas 5km Route
The course starts on a flat tarmac road just to the left of the café, heads out along the prison perimeter, onto grass, through woodland trails, and includes two full loops of the outer trail before you do a loop inside the prison before you return to the tarmac for a final finish sprint.
The course will be fully marshalled with directional arrows. First aiders will be on site throughout the event.
TRANSFERS / DEFERS
No defers are available for this event. If you can no longer attend, you may transfer your place to another runner BUT this must be completed no later than 2 days before the event.
To complete a transfer, you must email the full details of the new runner:
Full name
Date of birth
Email address
Running club (if affiliated)
Medical info (if relevant)
Emergency contact name & number
FIRST AID
Qualified first aiders (Total Events Safety Team) will be on site. If assistance is needed, please alert any marshal.
FACEBOOK SCAMMERS
Please be aware that there are scammers who may post claiming to have race places for sale.
Do NOT buy places via Facebook.
All legitimate transfers must be processed through Muddy Roads.
RESULTS
Results will be available after the event on www.muddyroads.co.uk and our social media sites.
